Nearly 50 homes and 20 condors or co-ops were sold in Edgewood last year, and those numbers are only expected to rise as the neighborhood welcomes further growth, including a $2 million renovation to the community’s recreation center. Restaurants, parks, and a neighborhood garden have also been added to the community. More shops and eateries are expected to be added to the southwestern end of Edgewood in the coming years.
Edgewood’s affordability and neighborly spirit is very appealing to home buyers in the district. The neighborhood is mostly made up of row houses that date back to the early 1900s, and the homes have historic architectural features like claw-foot tubs and original hardwood floors. There are also newly renovated condo and co-op buildings that could become excellent investment properties to own and rent out. New retail developments have opened in Ivy City in and around new or soon-to-be housing developments, like the first ever Nike community store and three different brewing distilleries for craft beer lovers. More restaurants and shops are expected to open this year as commercial investment in the neighborhood continues to rise. Ivy City’s industrial yet small town feel appeals to home buyers along with its affordability and location.

#1: Trinidad
