Kris Kringle Christmas Market
A German Holiday Market in Southern Maryland
Located in La Plata, Maryland, the Kris Kringle Christmas Market is designed to emulate the world-famous Christmas markets of Germany. This event, which is celebrating its 7th consecutive year, is packed with things to see and do.
Visitors to this holiday market can browse the homemade wares of local artisans, listen to live music, and sample delicious seasonal food. This event is perfect for families, as the Kris Kringle Christmas Market is dedicated to providing a family-friendly experience for all visitors.

Please note that there is an admission fee of $3.00, which benefits The Southern Maryland Food Bank, the Charles County Association of Emergency Medical Services, and the Charles County Volunteer Firemen’s Association.
Heurich House Museum Christkindlmarkt
Holiday Market in D.C.’s historic heart
This 3-day holiday market is held annually in the Heurich House Museum, also known as the Brewmaster’s Castle. In 1894, local artisans built this historic mansion — today, the museum honors this legacy by creating a market for the DMV’s artisans.
Visitors to the Christkindlmarkt can stroll through the house museum’s breathtaking gardens and browse the handmade goods of over 40 local artists from DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
In addition to the holiday market, you can take a guided tour of the beautiful, seasonally-decorated historic home.
Swedish Christmas Bazaar
A Christmas Market with a Scandinavian twist
Take a break from the German-style holiday markets by visiting the Swedish Christmas Bazaar, hosted by the Swedish Women’s Educational Association. This market, also known as a Julmarknad, will be full of opportunities to try traditional Swedish sweets and delicacies. In addition, visitors can explore other Scandinavian goods, including glassware, textiles, and books.
This unique holiday market is a great opportunity to explore and learn more about Swedish culture, while also getting one-of-a-kind gifts for your loved ones this holiday season!
The 2019 Julmarknad will be held on December 7th, and proceeds from the event will be used to fund further cultural events hosted in DC by the Swedish Women’s Educational Association.
