Lake Barcroft is a residential area in the eastern part of Fairfax County, Virginia, named for the privately-owned lake around which the neighborhood is situated. Most of the residents of Lake Barcroft own their homes, and most of the available properties are single-family homes. Lake Barcroft’s secluded atmosphere is perfect if you are interested in living in a quiet neighborhood without sacrificing the conveniences of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
The land area is owned and managed by a private homeowners’ association, the Lake Barcroft Association. As part of this group’s rules, the lake is only open recreationally to homeowners and their guests. Homes that are located along the lake’s banks can access the water from their property — for people who own homes in the area that are not lakefront, the Lake Barcroft Association operates five private beaches with lake access.
Lake Barcroft is a popular spot for recreation and celebrations. The reservoir is excellent for recreational fishing, with a healthy population of freshwater fish. In addition to seasonal festivals organized by the residents of Lake Barcroft, the waterfront paradise is wonderful for hosting private events — in fact, this is where we held our workshop with famous ultramarathoner Charlie Engle!
