Get your dancing shoes on: the Rosslyn Jazz Fest is back for its 29th year.
This year’s entry into the long-standing tradition features a lineup rooted in the soundscape of the Gulf Coast, a region whose unique jazz character pulls from deep ties of soul, funk, blues, and Carribean genres.
- TIME AND PLACE
The free music festival will be hosted on Saturday, September 7, at Gateway Park in Rosslyn. The tunes are set to begin at 1 PM, and the festival will continue until 7 PM.
Forecasts for Saturday show a balmy high of 80 degrees and a low of 60 degrees, so you might want to bring layers for the evening if you tend to get chilly easily.
- GETTING TO THE VENUE
To help commuters who plan to stay at the Jazz Fest for several hours, there will be special event parking available adjacent to the event space. The parking garage at 1911/1901 N. Fort Myer Drive — located across the street from Gateway Park — will be available for a flat fee of $5.00.
Due to the popularity of this event, parking will likely be limited. However, Gateway Park is very conveniently located for Metro commuters, as it is only a five-minute walk from the Rosslyn Station.
- LINEUP AND OTHER ACTIVITIES
The lineup for the Rosslyn Jazz Fest 2019 will consist of 4 exciting acts, featuring groups both local to the DMV and from across the country. Full bios for each act can be found on Rosslyn’s events page.
Due to the convenient and beautiful outdoor venue space at Gateway Park, guests will be able to take in the music while sampling the fare from local food trucks and a temporary beer and wine garden. For those who like to pair auditory art with visual art, the Arlington Art Truck will also be present, featuring their new interactive exhibit.
Arlington has no shortage of exciting activities and events to enjoy, but opportunities to attend beautiful and comfortable outdoor events will become rarer and rarer as we move from summer into fall. Make sure to seize this chance now by taking in the tunes at the Rosslyn Jazz Fest!
